CHELSEA HOME
TRANSFORMING A TRADITIONAL FEATURE INTO SOMETHING EXTRAORDINARY
WHAT WAS ONCE A TRADITIONAL STAIRCASE BECAME AN OPPORTUNITY TO TRANSFORM THE CHARACTER OF THE ENTIRE HOME. BY OPENING UP THE STRUCTURE AND REFINING EVERY DETAIL, IT EVOLVED INTO A FEATURE THAT BRINGS LIGHT, FLOW AND A STRONGER CONNECTION BETWEEN FLOORS.
Location Chelsea, London
Sector Private Residential

Scope Feature Staircase Balustrade
Finish Anodic Bronze Powder Coat
Located within a private family residence in Chelsea, the brief centred on opening up the connection between floors without losing the sense of craftsmanship and permanence that defined the original architecture. Existing newel posts were removed and replaced with a bespoke balustrade, allowing light, views and movement to flow more naturally throughout the property.
The result is both architectural and understated. A staircase that feels lighter, more contemporary and more connected to the wider interior, while retaining the presence expected within a London family home.
Developed in our Cadogan design, the balustrade is formed from solid steel hoops that create a subtle rhythm as the staircase rises through the property. A continuous convex handrail flows between levels, with bespoke swan-neck bends and carefully detailed transitions creating a seamless visual line.
Finished in anodic bronze, the metalwork introduces warmth and depth while complementing the home’s wider material palette.
