SOHO HOUSE
CONTEMPORARY CRAFT WITHIN A LISTED BUILDING
Transforming a historic stable building into a new Soho House destination required a careful balance between preservation and innovation.
Location Mayfair, London
Sector Hospitality
Client Soho House / ATS Interiors
Scope Feature Staircase, Structural Framework, Bronze Inlay
Services Design Development, Manufacture, Installation
Working alongside ATS Interiors, Burvills delivered a complex package of structural and architectural metalwork within the constraints of a listed building environment. Every intervention required careful coordination, extensive engineering and a deep understanding of the existing fabric.
At the centre of the project sits a sculptural staircase connecting ground to third floor. Developed through significant structural analysis and engineering, the staircase introduces a contemporary architectural gesture while respecting the character of the original building.
Additional bespoke detailing throughout the entrance spaces was produced using CNC waterjet technology, allowing intricate bronze inlays to be integrated with exceptional precision.
The result is a project where contemporary craftsmanship sits comfortably within a historic setting, demonstrating how modern interventions can enhance rather than compete with heritage architecture.
